Pair Eyewear Glasses Let Your Personality Shine
Do you or your child need prescription eyeglasses? Do you love design, fashion and style hacks like I do? Then meet Pair Eyewear. I think Pair Eyewear offers some of the coolest customizable glasses for kids (and grown-ups too) on the market. Plus, their tagline is All the Best Things Come in Pairs and like my twins, I feel that’s so right.
Actually, though, this company likely needs no introduction at all. If you’re on Facebook or Instagram – you probably already know about this brand of eyewear. This is true love. Let me tell you why…
But first – if you already know you want a Pair – here’s a special link for you to receive $25 OFF your first purchase of $60 or more.
It's All in How You Frame It
When my twins were 4, we found out that my daughter was almost blind in one eye
Her strong eye was more than compensating and so it was just not noticed, by her or anyone else. On her birthday at her well-child check, they did her first eye exam and we discovered her need for glasses. Not only that, if I did not patch her eye for 2 hours a day, every day, her “sight-challenged” eye would lose any muscle it had left. So, we had to strengthen it through patching her good eye and letting her other one do a work-out.
Surprisingly, it was not the eye-patch that she had issues with. She was very cooperative and seemed to have a good understanding of the importance of this exercise. The real problem we had, was despite trying on what seemed like a million pairs of eyeglasses, and her picking her favorite, and me spending way too much money to lessen her misgivings about wearing glasses – I could not get her to keep them on her face.
In Hindsight
It took me awhile before I’d even noticed they were off. I was so used to seeing her without glasses, when she wasn’t wearing them, it didn’t register with me at first. Soon, I got in the habit of noticing, but she still hadn’t developed the habit of keeping them on. She didn’t like them.
One day she didn’t like the color, the next, she said kids were making fun of her, the next day, she said they looked too girly, or she claimed she was miraculously healed. Whatever excuse she could make, she did.
When she started Kindergarten and was in school full-time, she finally realized that it was a struggle to not be able to see. She wore her glasses each day (according to her teacher, anyway). But as soon as she got home, she dropped her backpack and glasses on the table and pretended like she didn’t need them.
It's Okay to be Different
In March of her Kindergarten year, the pandemic forced school closures. And I forced her to wear her glasses all day, every day. One of the ways I increased her cooperation was when we read this book – It’s Okay to be Different by Todd Parr.
I love this book. More importantly, my kids love this book. When it comes to diversity, inclusivity, and acceptance, it’s a fantastic introduction.
It’s okay to be a different color. It’s okay to have no hair, or wear glasses. It’s okay to be adopted, or have different moms or different dads. It’s okay to come from a different place.
In fact, with this book, kids learn that it’s not just okay to be different, it’s actually even better.
On Zoom, they each had to draw themselves with one of their differences and show the class. I loved each of their pictures so much, that they still hang in the main area of our house three years later. As a mom, I adore these drawings. And as an artist, they make me smile more than I can say.
Self Expression with Pair Eyewear Customizable Frame Designs
Despite this positive reinforcement, my girl didn’t love her glasses. Until we discovered Pair Eyewear.
Pair Eyewear provides more flexibility by turning a pair of glasses into a multi-piece ensemble. There’s the underlying base frame, which includes the prescription lenses, and then a variety of top frames that attach magnetically — to swap them out for a new look.
My daughter chose the Otero base frame in the Blue Clear colorway.
She counted the days until they arrived. She was so excited. She also chose Ruby Sparkle, because, obviously, glitter.
We started with just two top frames to see how we liked them before getting any more. But the amount of designs and colors to choose from make coordinating with your outfit or mood so much fun.
I never thought there’d be a day where I didn’t have to remind my daughter to put on her glasses. Sure, she’s a bit older now and that helps. But the truth is, she loves her glasses so much, she doesn’t even like to have them off. I got an URGENT email from her teacher last week because she was upset she accidentally left them at home.
Here’s the BEST NEWS:
When it was time for school pictures, I told her she didn’t have to wear them if she didn’t want to, but as soon as I got her proofs, there she was, looking so sweet in her pretty Pair glasses. That’s how much she loves them. Her twin brother now wishes he wore glasses because they have some super cool Marvel frames. Poor boy and his perfect eyesight.
Pair Eyewear Glasses: Warranty
For a girl who loves her glasses AND tumbling…in the house, the yard, the playground, the bed, she was bound to break them at some point. Luckily the warranty I purchased made the exchange for a new Pair so easy.
You can pay $40 to enroll in PairCARE, a warranty program that covers scratched lenses and broken frames. PairCARE covers your glasses for 1 year. So worth it.
The only thing is, she had to wear taped/superglued glasses for at least a month. The time to get her new ones was more than she could stand. But, this is a fairly new start up with major growth and lots of new customers. As someone who designed products for years, I admire what the founders have created and that gives me a lot more patience than an 8 year old with broken frames.
Pair Eyewear Return Policy
What is Pair Eyewear’s returns and exchanges policy?
Although you have to purchase your Pair first and they do not offer a trial program, they have a 30 day, no questions asked return policy, even for prescription lenses. This includes free shipping each way. So, although it’s not a trial period per se, it’s easy to return anything that doesn’t work.
Pair with a Purpose
If a quality, customizable, lower-cost product with zero risk to try isn’t quite enough, then let me add this last amazing thing about this company.
Pair Eyewear also partners with The Eyelliance to ensure children in developing countries are provided and fitted with proper eyewear because, well, a pair of eyeglasses can literally change a life.
Let me know if already have these glasses or try them out. Better yet, send me a pic of you wearing them! I’d love to see your sweet face.
