What are Pretty Smart Art NFTs?

NFTs are designed with the hopes to completely democratize the art world

Pretty Smart Art NFTs are a new intertwined art collection of beautiful, brainy women. These are not your typical Sugarluxe girls next door because they will live (and dance the night away) on the Ethereum blockchain.

But what is NFT art?

Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are crypto tokens that represent information of unique or rare digital and real-world assets. The most popular form of NFT is art. Artists can sell their work in the form of these unique assets.

But to understand NFTs, it’s important to know just a little bit about the basics of cryptocurrency.

Fungible vs. Non-Fungible | What’s the Difference?

For instance: Crypto tokens – you’ve probably already heard of cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) – and fiat currencies like the dollar and euro are fungible tokens. You can have one ETH and exchange it for any other ETH, or you can exchange $1 USD bill with any other $1 USD bill.

Conversely, a non-fungible asset refers to something of a distinct value. There are no two exactly the same. A good example of a non-fungible asset is a house or a car.

A non-fungible token is where things get really interesting.

How are NFTs Changing the Art World?

The “minting process,” whereby new NFTs come into existence, creates unique digital artifacts that are impossible to recreate or duplicate.

Collectors

For collectors, Pretty Smart Art NFTs provide proof of ownership. Because these tokens are stored on an open and distributed blockchain (such as Ethereum), their embedded metadata and transaction history are completely verifiable by anyone in the world with an Internet connection.

Investors

NFTs are an exciting new domain for investors. They contain 2 primary aspects of any worthwhile investment of being scarce and collectible. So, it’s a way to buy and trade with the hopes of earning a return on your investment.

Artists

For artists, it allows us the chance to cut out the middleman (the people who usually make the most money from our efforts) and even better, it offers the opportunity to accrue a percentage of proceeds from resale. This rarely, if ever, has happened in the past and it’s incredibly exciting to have the chance to earn a type of royalty from those who are making a profit from a trade or resale.

The Pretty Smart Art Girls will allow Sugarluxe art lovers to own a unique art piece while we work together as creator and collector to make the NFT space more diverse and inclusive.

This is just a sneak peek. I can’t show you just yet.

Series 1 will showcase the first 22 Limited Edition Pretty Smart NFTs and will be stored as ERC-721 tokens on the Ethereum Blockchain.

Designed with more than 800 hand-illustrated features reflective of the long-admired Sugarluxe aesthetic, the NFTs will have varying degrees of rarity.

Most of the Pretty Smart Art NFT girls will remain top secret until after they are minted.

Why Are NFTs Important to Sugarluxe?

Women have been greatly underrepresented in both the art world and the financial space, but NFTs can help to level the playing field.

Financial freedom is a key priority for those involved in cryptocurrency. Women around the world today are seeking ways in which they can control their financial well-being. I am one of those women.

Since launching Sugarluxe in 2005, I knew I needed to learn all I could about technology to connect people with my work. And it’s only by harnessing the power of the internet in the early days that anyone became familiar with my art.

Today, I’m excited about this new space in the same way I was when I first began my career.

But you don’t need to spend much time in the Metaverse to realize how male-dominated it is. Because this new technology has direct ties to the cryptocurrency field, it’s attracting way more men than women.

Knowledge of finance and technology leads to empowerment. Therefore, we need more women in this space. A great way to support the movement toward greater diversity and female representation is by buying and sharing female-led NFT projects. In fact, I’m so thankful for my friends who introduced me to this new frontier. That’s how this will evolve, friend to friend.
